Péter Török's article on AI as a medical device published in HCM Magazin

An article by Péter Török, founder and CTO of Silurus Software, has been published in HCM Magazin (Health&Care Management), a German trade magazine for healthcare management. The article, "KI als Medizinprodukt" (AI as a Medical Device), appeared on 30 June 2026.

In the article, Péter writes about how AI is transforming medical technology: why implementation must happen now, what responsibility for the entire product life cycle means under frameworks such as the MDR, IVDR, and the EU AI Act, and why a new competence profile is emerging at the intersection of AI, regulatory affairs, and digital health.

Linda Szántó has been elected to the board of Bizalmi Kör

Linda Szántó, CEO of Silurus Software, has been elected to the board of Bizalmi Kör. Bizalmi Kör (Circle of Trust) is Hungary's leading business community for company owners and managing directors. The new board members were announced in a festive ceremony on the stage of the TRUST Summit in June 2026.

Bizalmi Kör brings together nearly 800 selected business leaders in leadership clubs and mastermind groups, where members support each other through experience sharing, honest feedback, and shared learning. The board takes part in shaping the strategic direction of the community, its clubs, and its flagship events.

Linda has been an active member of the community for two years, and in 2025 she received its Female Business Leader of the Year award. Serving on the board of Bizalmi Kör is a special honor and a responsibility.

Linda Szántó spoke at the EDIH Summit in Brussels

Linda Szántó, representing the Faculty of Informatics of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE IK), spoke at this year's EDIH Summit in Brussels. The summit brought together leaders of the European Digital Innovation Hubs network, representatives of the European Commission, and innovation experts from across Europe to discuss the future of digital transformation and AI in Europe.

In her presentation, Linda showcased the achievements of the NEXTCHAIN initiative, launched within the framework of DigitalTech EDIH to strengthen collaboration between innovative SMEs, research institutions, and technology stakeholders across Europe. Several other European EDIHs have since joined the initiative, among them DATAEDIH, DigiCare EDIH, the Finnish AI Region (FAIR), EDIH CASSOVIUM, and EDIH Madrid Region 2.0, helping it grow into a truly international collaboration.

She also spoke about the challenges facing the Hungarian and European digital health sector, focusing on the barriers that SMEs and university-driven innovations encounter when bringing new solutions to market. The discussions underlined the importance of closer cooperation between industry, academia, and innovation support organizations to accelerate the adoption of healthcare innovations.

Sixteen years with AI in health: Tamás Fodor spoke at a University of Bologna workshop

At the invitation of Professor Rita Fioresi, Tamás Fodor, Head of Software Engineering at Silurus Software, gave a talk at a workshop of the University of Bologna, titled "Sixteen years with AI in health". He first saw the university's buildings ten years ago as a tourist. Returning to the institution, founded in 1088, as a collaborator on EU research projects was a special honor.

His talk traced a line from his early work on depression speech analysis to today's clinical AI. In a joint project of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) and Semmelweis University, he recorded patients at a psychiatric ward and searched for objective, measurable markers of depression in their voice, aiming for cheaper, faster, and more consistent diagnosis. The field still asks the same questions today. The methods have changed beyond recognition, and far more data is available, together with tools that can make real use of it.

The workshop also featured talks by Catarina Coutinho on visual field archetypes in optic neuropathies, Angelica Simonetti on the data requirements of training autoencoders for glaucoma visual field reconstruction, and Giovanni Miselli (Datalogic) on predicting the decoding complexity of QR and DataMatrix codes with CNNs and GNNs.

Silurus Software began working with the University of Bologna about a year ago, and several joint EU projects are already in the pipeline.

Silurus Software at MedtecLIVE 2026 in Stuttgart

n May 2026 we attended MedtecLIVE in Stuttgart, one of Europe's most focused trade fairs for the development and manufacturing of medical technology. The event covered the entire value chain of medical technology with a particular focus on digitalisation, automation, AI and MDR/IVDR compliance.

t was a great opportunity to meet professionals from across the MedTech industry and present our services in medical software development, regulatory compliance and SaMD development. We had inspiring conversations about the challenges companies face when developing software that satisfies both clinical and regulatory requirements.

We look forward to continuing the conversations started in Stuttgart and building further on the connections made there.

Silurus Software at DMEA 2026 in Berlin

n April 2026 we had the opportunity to attend DMEA in Berlin, Europe's leading trade fair for digital health. The event brought together over 20,000 participants from across the healthcare and health-tech industry, covering topics such as AI in clinical workflows, interoperability, electronic patient records, and data security.

For us it was a valuable opportunity to connect with specialists and potential partners, and to present our expertise in healthcare software development, HL7/FHIR integration, and IEC 62304-compliant medical software. The conversations at DMEA confirmed that engineering quality and regulatory experience are becoming increasingly decisive factors for MedTech and digital health companies.

We left Berlin with new connections and a clearer picture of where the European digital health market is heading.

At the Női Vállalkozók Napja 2026 (Women Entrepreneurs’ Day 2026), Dr. Linda Szántó was honored with the THE PIONEER award, recognizing a professional journey defined by choosing less conventional paths and opening new directions for others. Linda Szántó completed ISO 13485 internal auditor training

Linda Szántó, CEO of Silurus Software, completed the MSZ EN ISO 13485:2016 internal auditor training held in Budapest in March 2026 and passed the exam. The course was organized by SAASCO Medical and NoBoVersum.

ISO 13485 defines the requirements for quality management systems in the medical device industry, and it is part of the daily reality of Silurus Software's work, from medical software development to QA and regulatory compliance services. Internal auditors play a key role in keeping a quality management system effective: they review processes, uncover weaknesses, and prepare the organization for external audits.

With this qualification, Silurus Software further strengthens the in-house quality management and compliance competence that its clients rely on when developing medical devices and software as a medical device (SaMD).

We had the pleasure of attending Medical Technology Ireland this September in Galway. The event is recognized as one of Europe’s largest and fastest-growing gatherings for medical device design and manufacturing. It’s not just a showcase: Medical Technology Ireland combines the exhibition with a two-day conference programme featuring expert-led sessions on innovation, market trends, regulatory challenges, and the future of medtech. BeST @ Charité – Immersive Medical Simulation Tour

As part of the BIONNALE pre-event tour, Linda visited the Berliner Simulations- und Trainingszentrum (BeST) at Charité. Led by Unit Head Philipp Landgraf, she experienced a truly inspiring simulation hospital setup — complete with real IT systems, authentic medical devices, and even ‘immortal’ patients (realistic mannequins!). Their agile development approach, tested in such a close-to-reality environment, highlighted how innovation meets practicality in healthcare system design. Strengthening Cybersecurity Awareness – Preparing for NIS2

We’re pleased to share that our CEO, Linda Szántó, has successfully completed the training titled “Introduction to the Application of the NIS2 Directive”, held by the Faculty of Informatics at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE). She also participated in the “NIS2 in Practice – Information Security Regulations” workshop, organized by the Digital Government Development and Project Management Ltd. (DKF) – both events took place within the framework of the DigitalTech EDIH project. Although Silurus Software is not yet among the entities obligated by the NIS2 directive, we consider it essential to voluntarily and proactively prepare for compliance. Péter and Linda gave a presentation at Óbuda University upon the invitation of IVSZ (Alliance of Digital Enterprises)

Linda and Péter, managing directors of Silurus Software Kft., were invited to an event organized by IVSZ, which focused on the digitalization of healthcare. The event, titled "Is MedTech Real Business for Us?", perfectly highlighted the challenges and opportunities the sector faces today. During the event, Óbuda University's innovative lab and equipment system, which actively participates in the development of da Vinci surgical robots, were showcased. Additionally, we heard fascinating presentations on the application of AI in Life Sciences, which has the potential to revolutionize healthcare technologies.
